No More Heroes
This modern day rehash of Robert the Bruce with his friendly persistent spider does not encourage the working class to bind together and defeat the evil capitalists. Once more the idea that the individual is 'in it alone' in a friendless barren cell sets a bad example to the world's proletariat. Your stories should encourage individuals to become comrades because united we will never be defeated. There should be no more heroes, no more Teva's, no more lonely spiders spinning their transculentoptic nests, but instead groups of united thinkers building a just future.

I like the word "translucenoptic". I think that people are, however, inspired by a vast range of different things. I was in a supermarket at the weekend and was looking through the magazines. One woman, who had been abused as a child, and then married and had 4 children, found it was her doll collection that kept her sane.
ReplyDeleteShe even said they kept her from killing herself. Her reasoning being that her husband would take great care of their 4 children, but not have time for the dolls. Obviously, her children would be greatly harmed by her death, and the fact that she could not see that reflected how seriously depressed she was.
But, the doll collection, and her interest in repairing dolls, persuaded her not to commit suicide. So, well done dolls, good job.
So, who is to say whether anyone would be inspired by Robert the Bruce and the spider?
Glad you like my new word. And yes I do agree with you that people are inspired by a range of different things. These two posts are aimed at a fiction writer who wrote a modern day version of Robert the Bruce complete with a spider that keeps on having to repair its web. I merely commented that while it was a good story from one perspective it is important to use literature to encourage group unity and collective action to promote a just socialist future. Focusing purely on the individual, acting like some kind of Robert the Bruce/James Bond/Bono, wasn't in the best interests of promoting Socialist Unity. She took this as an abusive comment and called me a troll.
ReplyDeleteThis is hardly surprising as some of her articles were so right wing .. one of her articles even criticised people who are unemployed suggesting they're just losers. I got really annoyed with her and wrote 'You don't know these people. There are millions unemployed through not fault of their own. It's the capitalist government and their heartless policies that are causing misery'.
I'm also a bit upset this week because its looks as though the rain is ruining my potatoes. I wish I had more time or some help as I really need to dig a simple drain along one side of the field so my veggie patch doesn't get so flooded. I can't believe the rain we're having.
A little more context might help, as with your post "Writers for us or against us?"
ReplyDeleteSo do you want me to give you more information about this. I've been told that I do get carried away and that I assume that people know more than they actually do. Could you give me a few pointers?
